What’s Included in a Check-Up and Clean?

• Comprehensive Examination - We assess every tooth, check your gums, screen for oral cancer, and take the time to understand your overall oral health.

• DSLR Photography - We capture a full set of high-resolution photographs of your teeth and smile using a professional DSLR camera. These images help us track changes over time, explain our findings clearly, and involve you more in your treatment.

• Airflow Guided Biofilm Therapy - We use EMS Airflow® to gently but powerfully remove plaque, softer tartar, and surface stains using a combination of warm water, air, and ultrafine powder. It’s especially effective for biofilm removal and ideal for patients with sensitive teeth. In most cases, Airflow is used alongside ultrasonic and hand scaling to ensure a thorough clean—combining comfort with clinical precision for the best possible result

• Fluoride Treatment (if needed) - Strengthens enamel and helps prevent decay, especially important if you’re prone to sensitivity or early enamel wear

• Digital X-rays (if due) - Low-radiation, high-resolution imaging allows us to catch issues below the surface—like hidden decay or bone loss—before they become problems.

Why We Separate the Check-Up and Clean for New Patients

If you’re new to the practice, we take extra time during your first visit to fully understand your dental history, assess your current oral health, and discuss your goals or concerns. This allows us to diagnose accurately, plan properly, and ensure you’re getting the right kind of clean—whether that’s a routine polish or deeper periodontal therapy. In some cases, we may find that a clean isn’t appropriate until specific issues are addressed. Separating the visits lets us give your care the attention it deserves.

How Often Should You Come In?

Most people benefit from a check-up and clean every 6 months, though some may need more frequent care. We’ll recommend a personalised schedule based on your oral health and risk factors.
